Record Player

To create the work, I deconstructed a AT-PL50 and repurposed its parts to create a record player housed in concrete. The mechanisms were mounted on a sheet of laser cut acrylic which was then attached to the concrete. It is finished with cast bronze buttons and laser etched indicators. The record is a laser etched sheet of acrylic with the song, 16 Tons, by Tennessee Ford on side A and an advertisement from General Electric's Ecomagination campaign on side B. The audio files were ran through two programs that convert WAV files into vector lines which were then etched into the acrylic.
