Gear Wall
This wall of gears was cast from 700 lbs of concrete and mounted to a wall driven by a step down high torque motor. Sheets of insulation were CNC routed to create the mold. A steel shaft was cast in the center of each gear to later mount them to the wall. A time clock was used to activate the piece using a sensor mounted inside. The viewer would time stamp their showcard when they arrived at the exhibition. This would trigger the motor to turn for 30 seconds activating the wall. As the event went on, the gears slowly would grind against each other chipping teeth off the gears and occasionally binding.
