Ceramic Forms
My ceramic work is slip-cast from a cone 6 black porcelain fired in either an electric or salt kiln. The forms start in CAD and the mold parts are designed off of the original. Each part is printed on an FDM printer. These prints are then cast in silicone to create a master mold. Plaster then can be poured in the silicone mold to create a mold suitable for slip-casting. They are directionally sprayed with underglazes to accent the forms at the bisque stage and finished off with a clear liner glaze on the interior. Each cup is then sanded with 800 grit sandpaper to soften the unglazed surface.
