Espresso Machine
To create the work, I deconstructed a MR. Coffee espresso machine and repurposed its parts to create a more sleek and modern concrete espresso machine. The mechanisms were mounted inside an acrylic box plastic welded together. The machine housing was suspended in a mold with bronze vents to allow heat to escape from the interior of the machine. With over 200 parts to this mold it was all fully functional and suspended inside a melamine mold and cast in countertop grade concrete. The indicator knob was rotary laser etched with symbols for steam, off and pour. The end result is a fully functional espresso machine maintaining its integrity as a food safe device.
